.. well maybe a little more time, but not much!My daughter has a hand me down IKEA bookshelf that is white melamime. It is, er, functional. We recently purchased new bedding and had the walls painted and the bookcase was looking more ... functional ... than ever.
I added a pink and lime green polka dot ribbon trim around each edge and shelf with few dabs of hot glue. The trim was $1 per yard from a local fabric store, and coordinates with the bedding. ($5)
The large cork circles (I think they are supposed to go under potted plants) are from IKEA and I had my daughter paint them to match her room - chocolate brown, pink, and lime green. (3 circles for $4). The overall effect is fun!
